A new year with new and continuing challenges
Like many of you, Baere has taken the beginning of a new year to revisit our activities in the fuels and lubricants arenas. And we have found that we certainly are busy.
The ASTM working group tasked with developing a guidance document is hopefully about ready to submit the effort for ballot. This means the document will get a good review with a lot of fresh eyes to make sure it is a useful, clearly worded, and accurate document. The group expects there to be some work after that is completed, but hopefully we are nearly there. And then the world will have some guidance on testing when developing new "aviation gasolines".
Our summit meeting with alternative energy producers for our park plan in Indiana went very well. Our next step is to find funding for our feasibility and business case study. To that end we sent representatives to Washington DC to talk to our contacts about where and how to start the money ball rolling. We know with the economy being what it is, cash will be a challenge, but we have had good responses that this is something that has enough interest there is money to be had. We have our fingers crossed and are working hard on this.
Our efforts with Purdue University's National Test Facility for Fuels and Propulsion (NaTeF) continues to make progress. The coordinated effort has resulted in some nice laboratory facilities, the design of a new seal test rig for testing with dynamic environments (changing temperatures and pressures) as well as the effort to develop a new analytical method for evaluting seal/fuel interactions. We'll let you know what we learn as we study the data!!
As always, we invite your questions, comments and opportunities to work with you. Drop us an email or call. We love working with you all.
